Logo specific FAQ’s
1. Will my logo be original?
Every logo we create is completely unique. We do not resort to clip
art or previously fabricated artwork of any kind. Our logo designs
always begin on paper to ensure maximum creative insight. The only
exception is a logo revision that requires standard elements.
2. Who owns my logo when it is complete?
Ownership (copyright) of the final artwork become the property of
the client, having unlimited, indefinite, and royalty-free use of
the logo upon payment of all fees. Flame Media-Design retains rights
to display the artwork in our portfolio and advertising materials.
All concepts, comprehensives, and other preliminary materials, which
are not selected by the client, are not included into the final
delivery.
3. What is a trademark? Do you provide trademark services?
A trademark and copyright are considered intellectual property.
A trademark is a word, symbol, design, or combination used to distinguish
the wares or services of one person or organization from those of
others in the marketplace. A registered trademark can be protected
through legal proceedings from misuse and imitation.
You are not required to register your trademark – using a
mark for a certain length of time can establish your ownership through
common law – but it highly recommended. You may want to file
on your own but we recommend hiring a registered trademark agent
or intellectual property lawyer to do so on your behalf.
4. How long does it take to design/redesign a logo?
The turnaround for our initial comprehensives is one week. Typically,
the whole process takes between 1-3 weeks to get the final design
in your hands. This will depend on how quickly we can understand
your marketing objectives, and the time it takes for you to decide
which variation and/or alterations you want.
5. Can my logo be used for web/print/fax/screen/etc?
All of our logos are media-versatile. We will provide all the formats
you would need general office use, web, and professional print.
Your logo is kept on file. If you ever lose it or need an alternative
file format we can provide it for you.
6. How does the logo design process work?
We begin with a marketing assessment to learn your business objectives.
Following a deposit, we develop a set of unique logo comprehensives.
You choose your favorite one or two (or a combination of several)
then request any revisions you would like to see. We continue to
revise the logo until you are completely satisfied. If you were
purchasing an identity package we would then proceed to develop
letterhead, envelope, business cards, and so on. The remainder is
due upon completion of the project.
7. What if I don’t like it or want to change something?
We are a professional design studio. The integrity of our work is
our highest priority and our customers have always been very pleased
with our work. We encourage you to review our portfolio, read our
case studies, and testimonials before doing business with us. For
logo designs we offer unlimited revisions to ensure your total satisfaction.
8. Why do I need a logo?
Your logo is the visual personality of your business and as a first
impression; your logo essentially is your business!
A professional logo is the fastest way to build credibility. If
you sell quality products, your logo should reflect this. Likewise,
a poor quality logo suggests inferior products. Not having a logo
at all communicates that you don’t even care.
9. Why would I need a new logo?
It is common during start-up for a business to overlook the design
of a professional logo. With so many other important operations
to tend to, the task of designing a logo is last second job for
a hobby artist in the family, or the art department at a printer.
The logo may be sufficient for the first few years, but as the business
begins to grow and refine its competitive positioning, the logo
no longer accurately reflects the quality of goods/services and
the company’s desired brand perception. An inconsistency between
the companies quality and perceived quality can seriously hold a
business back.
10. What makes a good/bad logo?
A powerful logo is not a cute font with embossing and special effects.
It is not an intricate drawing, a smart animation, or ambiguous
swoosh shape. A powerful logo is simple, unique, and has meaning.
It begins with a marketing assessment and ends with solid design
principles. A memorable logo represents every positive experience
a customer has ever had with your company. A poor logo has no holding
value - your branding efforts are essentially useless.
Web site specific FAQ’s
1. What can a Web Site do for my business?
Simply put, a website is modern extension of your marketing efforts.
It is a means of presenting information, products and services to
your customers in a convenient, cost effective, and upgradable way.
A well-designed, professional web site can give you added visibility
and credibility for a much larger audience. The Internet is one
of the first places a person who has access to a computer will seek
information. The interactive character of the web also allows your
(potential) customers to become more proactive - taking them one
step closer to a sale. This lightens the workload on your administrative
and sales staff.
2. Do you use website templates?
No. Templates are created with a specific design style in mind that
has nothing to do with your unique branding strategy. Templates
are excellent for personal websites, but have no place on a professional
commercial website. A template is the website equivalent of a clipart
logo.
3. Why should I consider a website upgrade?
In the early 90’s it was considered ‘cutting-edge’
to simply own a website. Technical gurus and students with a little
time on their hands were able to whip together cute websites with
playful animations and clever scripts. Today the website had involved
into a much more complex medium that has more to do with branding
and design than a technical gimmickry.
4. What if I don’t get what I was looking for?
We are a professional design studio. The integrity of our work is
our highest priority and our customers have always been very pleased
with our work. We encourage you to review our portfolio, read our
case studies, and testimonials before doing business with us. We
guarantee that you will be satisfied.
5. What makes a good/bad website?
This will really depend on the objectives of your organization.
Speed, complexity, and artistic qualities, for example, will vary
somewhat between an e-commerce site and an entertainment site. There
are, however, some universal design principles that apply to most
websites: The navigation system and hierarchy of information on
the site should be intuitive. The layout should drive visitors to
the most important information first and organize page elements
in a logical fashion. Photos, graphics, and colors should have a
specific purpose and blend naturally into the design. Text blocks,
reasonable font sizes, and a controlled font palette, should be
in place to improve the legibility and balance of the site. A good
site is able to create an interactive experience for a visitor.
A bad site treats the web as an online version of other ‘flat’
mediums.
6. Can you create an e-commerce site, chatroom, flash animation,
etc?
Yes, we can create many advanced features for your website. It is
common for a client to ask about a complex script, such as a chatroom,
when it makes much more sense to use a simpler, less expensive solution,
such as a forum. We take a problem-solving approach to find realistic
solutions for your website needs.
7. How will people find my website?
Flame provides a number of promotional services and search engine
optimization (SEO) techniques to boost the exposure of your site.
We work with your page titles and meta tags carefully to ensure
the site is search engine friendly and the site is targeted for
top rankings. We research search terms people are using to find
you and your competitors products. We will then incorporate these
keywords into your site in the proper algorithm so search engine
robots indexing your site will value your page as a higher ranking.
Following optimization we submit your site to key search engines,
and industry related sites to drive traffic to your website in the
most efficient manner.
